Invited to the stage, Dr Mohammed Matar al Kaabi delivered a speech in which he extended heartfelt greetings to HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates as well as the Emirati people and the whole world.
He invoked the Almighty Allah to bring this anniversary back many years to come while the world in its entirety lives in peace, tolerance and prosperity.
In his speech, Dr al Kaabi said, “this miracle represents the most prominent features of tolerance and meeting amongst prophethoods and divine messages on the blessed land. It also reflects the most evident image of honouring and exchange of counsel between our prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless and grant him peace, and his fellow prophets and messengers in heaven. These are signs and indicators of tolerance and co-existence among the Abrahamic religions.”
He concluded his speech by saying, “Abu Dhabi recently celebrated the human fraternity document signed in Abu Dhabi by two prominent figures of divine religions, whose echo had gone beyond the horizon all over the world with the aim to cement tolerance, fraternity and co-existence.”
The ceremony was kicked off by singing the national anthem followed by a recitation of verses from the first verses of Isra chapter. The chapter throws the spotlight on the principles and values that Allah wants for the whole of humanity.
After that, Salma al-Aidarous, preacher at Awqaf, gave a speech entitled “Signs of Miraj (ascension)” in which she said that the Isra and Miraj journey or miraculous night journey is a unique one exceeding the limit of the human brain and the universal law. It was a divine miracle through which the prophet Muhammad pbuh had reached highest ranks; it was without a shadow of a doubt a moral miracle.
She stressed the necessity to take advantage of such momentous occasions with the aim to learn the lessons they tend to deliver in order for our children and us could take them a righteous and straight path in lives.
Concluding her speech, she implored the Exalted Allah that this occasion will come in future with further progress and prosperity.
In his speech entitled “Tolerance and Fraternity in Isra Journey”, Nasser al-Yamahi, preacher at Awqaf, said, “in order to promote the human fraternity, every one of us is invited to adopt tolerance a way of life as our religion Islam ensures tolerance and ease without burdening people beyond what they can bear on the basis of fraternity and pardon amongst people one another.”
The most significant characteristics of this blessed journey:
- Fraternity among the prophets and tolerance in their religions: In Isra journey, the Prophet Muhammad pbuh met with his fellow prophets and messengers in a blessed mosque to worship the Almighty Allah. This presents the harmony and fraternity among the religions and prophets alike. The journey casts light on tolerance of Islam.
- Isra and Miraj event established a great theory of religious integrity that Islam always calls for. All prophets share the belief in Allah and the promotion of virtues and values of goodness. This fact compels humanity in general and Muslims in particular to foster co-existence and tolerance with the other.
- At the end of the miraculous night journey, the Prophet Muhammad pbuh descended to the earth along with him the last verses of Al-Baqarah chapter, a part of which Allah says, “Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.” This verse takes off the heavy burden on the soul, which is deemed as the zenith of tolerance and ease.
The last speaker in the event was Abdullah Bila, mosque supervisor, who delivered a speech entitled “Reflections from the Surat al-Najm” in which he threw the spotlight on some of the divine privileges the Prophet Muhammad was given especially the last part of Surat al-Najm, which commands Muslims to prostrate for Allah’s sake five times a day.
Later, a video presentation was displayed showing the UAE keen interest and its wise leadership in promoting the moral, national and human values that cherish tolerance, co-existence and respect towards the other, and reflect our Islamic values and universality of our religion message. The message that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan urged people to ponder over and ignite the determination to keep pace with civilisations and compete positively and instil goodness in nations.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr Al Kaabi, Awqaf’s Chairman, honoured winners of the third season of the ‘Little preacher’ contest that Awqaf launches every year including people of determination particularly girls distinguished in sign language from Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination and other partners.
