A memorandum of understating signed between the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination and the AWQAF
The Zayed Higher Organization for the People of Determination has signed a memorandum of understanding with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments aimed at promoting mutual cooperation and contribution to fulfilling the people of determination needs in terms of religious affairs and improving the services being offered in the mosques.
The aim is to enable this segment of society to perform the prayers with serenity and tranquillity and enhance the culture of dealing with people of determination and the mechanism of teaching them the Quran.
The Memorandum seeks to put Awqaf’s platforms into practice to help people of determination benefit from the programmes and events jointly held between the two parties, cement the national and religious values, bolster tolerance and moderation and shore up products manufactured by people of determination by broadening the scope of their circulation.
The Memorandum of understanding was signed between HE Abdullah Abdudalee Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, and HE Mohamed Saeed Bakheet Al-Neyadi, Director-General of Awqaf. The signing ceremony took place through remote visual communication and was attended by a host of officials from both sides.
Under the terms of the Memorandum, the Organization will provide the people of determination with simultaneous translation of Friday sermons in sign language for the hearing-impaired people.
To this end, the Organization will have a translator present on Fridays in a specific mosque along with a camera crew for live broadcasting. Moreover, training courses will be held for Awqaf’s employees in sign language. The courses are related to the skills needed to deal with people of determination. Employees will hence be capable of providing services for this section of society and learn to deal with them efficiently.
Additionally, the religious publications issued by Awqaf in Braille language for the visually impaired people will be printed, and mosques will be supplemented with wooden products approved by the Organization.
To help people of determination observe prayers in the mosques with ease, Awqaf has considered designing the mosques’ infrastructure, car parks, and other facilities as per the standards and specifications set by the Zayed Higher Organization.
The Memorandum sets out that Awqaf allocates annual Haj permits for the people of determination to perform the Haj rites along with their companions. This is based on the Organization nomination, which is carried out in conformity with the measures adopted by the relevant authorities in the sacred lands.
Awqaf will also allocate courses for learning the Quran devoted to the people of determination via a range of platforms. Furthermore, it will prepare a Friday sermon specifically dedicated to cast light on the rights of the people of determination and open up a window for sign language when the Friday sermon is aired live.
Another endeavour set by Awqaf is to train people of determination to be employees themselves at Awqaf, answer the religious queries they raise, edit publications and hand them over. Besides, Awqaf will endorse the wooden products manufactured by people of determination according to its needs.
HE Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, welcomed the signing of the cooperation agreement with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and praised its collaboration with the Organization on more than one occasion. This includes the launch of the smart platform for learning the Quran aimed at serving students of people of determination at the Organisation by teaching them the Quran. The smart platform is meant to minimize time and rid them of the burden associated with heading to the Quranic centres, particularly amid the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19).
HE Abdullah Al Humaidan also hailed the vital role played by Awqaf in terms of the religious discourse in the UAE aimed at boosting moderation, disseminating the tolerant teachings of Islam and the Islamic culture, as well as raising religious awareness amongst all sections of society.
He also commended Awqaf’s unrelenting support for the Organization’s efforts to empower and integrate people of determination into society, reiterating that Awqaf is one of the most prominent entities operating in the religious, social and humanitarian work.
He also maintained that ties of cooperation and coordination are established between the two entities in a wide range of joint humanitarian projects to the best interest of people of determination.
Concluding his statement, HE Abdullah Al Humaidan said that such collaboration had helped the Organization manufacture the mosques’ requirements by the people of determination, namely the Quran shelves, Minbars (pulpits), and sticks for Khateebs (speakers) through the vocational training workshops at the Organization.
For his part, HE Mohamed Saeed Al-Neyadi, Director-General of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, commended the infinite care the UAE wise leadership provides for the people of determination by fulfilling their needs so that they can perform their role in society and contribute to the civilizational development witnessing across the country.
HE Al-Neyadi also praised the tremendous and genuine efforts made by the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination, aiming to help them advance in all aspects of daily life by offering them purposeful programmes and practical strategies to develop their abilities sharpen their skills.
Al-Neyadi said such efforts had placed the Organisation at the forefront of the institutions specialized in this field, adding it gains today the admiration of all sections of society.
On a related note, Awqaf’s Director-General reiterated that the signing comes as a continuity of the efforts exerted by the two parties and an embodiment of the long-seated relations of cooperation.
“The aim is to achieve the joint goals and help serve and integrate this crucial segment into society,” he further said.
HE Mohamed Saeed Al-Neyadi evinced Awqaf’s full readiness to cooperate with all the country’s institutions in conformity with its mission and vision as a leading entity in raising and promoting society’s awareness.
