The Islamic Affairs commemorates the Prophet Muhammad pbuh’s birth anniversary

Marking the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh 1441, the Awqaf held a ceremony on Sunday 10th November 2019 at the Break Water Theatre in Abu Dhabi in presence of HE Dr Mohammed Matar al Kaabi, Awqaf’s Chairman, HE Mohammed Saeed al-Neyadi, Awqaf’s Director-General, and a host of scholars from Al- Azhar Al-Sharif, in addition to a number of Christian clergymen based in the UAE and a huge crowd of people from all walks of life.

On this occasion, the Awqaf extended heartfelt greetings and blessings to HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Members of the Supreme Council, Rulers of the Emirates. It also congratulated the UAE people and all of the world.

The celebration opened with a recitation of verses from the holy Quran by Saeed al-Kaabi followed by a speech delivered on behalf of Awqaf by Mr. Abdul Rahman al-Nassiri in which he shed light of tolerance of the Prophet Muhammad and said: “The Prophet Muhammad pbuh lived sixty-three years spreading mercy and tolerance in various situation of his lifespan. He laid down the foundations of civilisation and built bridges of communication with people.”

He also said that Allah’s Apostle was keenly interested to be a role model for people to emulate in tolerance; he was very kind to children and merciful to women consoling the weak and destitute. He was lenient and tolerant with people calling on them to respect other people; he would appreciate their humanity, identity and privacy striving to contain everyone with wisdom, and the proper instruction.”

Addressing the audience, Abdul Rahman al-Nassiri said: “the values of tolerance and communication with people are amongst the core objectives that religions intend to cement, in compliance to what Almighty Allah says “O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another.”

He underscored that the way to get to know people and establish relations with others can only be achieved through fostering tolerance and co-existence, noting in the meantime that the reason for Allah behind creating such a diversity is a mere wisdom as this is proved when Exalted Allah says in the Quran “And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and your colours. Indeed, in that are signs for those of knowledge.”

He also said that Allah had sent his messengers and prophets, peace be upon them, to cherish the values of knowing one another and to encourage communication with all walks of life, thus leading to achieving everlasting happiness in this world and hereafter.

The speaker pointed out that such diversity is acting as a catalyst for people to thrive and prosper, and to get to know one another, adding that the Prophet Muhammad pbuh’s morals have resulted in creating a civilised human being and developing the Arabs and Muslims civilisation.

“The Messenger Muhammad pbuh formed generations fully aware of the value of humankind regardless of their diversity and colours, and of the importance of communication and respect of cultures in the belief that tolerance and communication are merely for the good of people and mercy for humanity.

He concluded by further underlining that our celebration of Prophet Muhammad pbuh’s birth is an opportunity to deepen the values enshrined in the Quran and embodied in the biography of Allah’s Apostle, ensuring that such values are now followed by the UAE wise leadership as did the late Sheikh Zayed.

Abdul Rahman al-Nassiri invoked Allah, Most High, to continue blessing our country with safety and stability, and to bestow His mercy upon the late Sheikh Zayed and admit him into Paradise. He supplicated to Allah to protect HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE, his Deputy and Crown Prince, and grant them continued good health.

For his part, Dr Nazeer Ayyad, Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Institute in Cairo, extended the greetings of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif Dr Ahmed al-Tayyeb, to the UAE leadership and the Emirati people, on this momentous occasion.

In his speech, Dr Nazeer Ayyad said: “The descriptions of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh are many, but the greatest one is when Allah has described him in the Quran saying “There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you and to the believers is kind and merciful.”

He also said: “the messenger of humanity was interested in maintaining security and caring for peace and achieving tranquillity and stability for this nation and other nations”, noting that “this endeavour was embedded in the Charter of Medina, which has become now an example to follow in tolerance and co-existence.”

Concluding his speech, Dr Nazeer Ayyad said that this nation has every right to be fiercely proud of this great messenger and to follow him to the letter. We also have the right to celebrate his birth anniversary as it encompasses the values of peace, tolerance and co-existence.

For her part, Nouf Ahmed al-Shehi, Preacher at Awqaf, gave a speech in which she talked about the civilisational values with which the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad came along, highlighting that the Prophet’s birthday was a watershed moment in the history of humanity as it was calling on shaping the human being.

For this to happen, she said that the Messenger of Allah teachings were studded with the call for creating a civilisation in every aspect of human life so that they reach the peak of morality and both intellectual and cultural and scientific accomplishments.

She pointed out that success achieved by the Arabs and Muslims is, in fact, attributed to the teachings of Allah’s Apostle, concluding her speech by stating that without strong wills and burning ambitions and brilliant minds the earth would never flourish and the space would never be reached, and without the creative thought this civilisation would never be founded.

It is noteworthy that a bunch of students from the holy Quran memorisation institutes in Abu Dhabi sang chants in celebration of the occasion.
