All Praise be to Allah Who honored us by sending us the Seal of the Prophets, Our Leader and Master, Muhammad, made his pure and pristine wives mothers of the believers, and chosen them over many of the women of all the worlds and nations. I testify that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah; the Uniquely One, who has no partners in His Oneness, and I testify that our Leader, our Prophet, Muhammad - is the Servant of Allah and His Messenger.
May the peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all of his family and companions, and upon whomsoever follows them in the best of ways till the Last Day.
To proceed: I advise you and myself to embody a reverential consciousness and fear (taqwa) of Allah Most High. Allah Most High says:
(وَاتَّقُوا يَوْمًا تُرْجَعُونَ فِيهِ إِلَى اللَّهِ ثُمَّ تُوَفَّى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ)
(And fear the Day when ye shall be brought back to God. Then shall every soul be paid what it earned, and none shall be dealt with unjustly.)
O Muslims: Allah made for his Prophet wives who believe, who are devout, who worship (in humility). Allah chose them and made them special when He says: (يَا نِسَاءَ النَّبِيِّ لَسْتُنَّ كَأَحَدٍ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ)
(O Wives of the Prophet, You are not like any of the (other) women)
To them belong huge honor and credit for transmitting the guidance and ethical morals of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in interacting with one's family and household, so as to teach people how to follow the Prophet and emulate his example.
Among the Mothers of the Believers is the Scholar and Jurist, Lady Umm Salamah: Hind, Daughter of Hudhayfah, (may Allah be Pleased with Her). She is one of the earliest women to embrace Islam, among the first of those women who emigrated to Madinah with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who is included by Allah's statement:
"As for the first and foremost of the Emigrants (Muhājirīn) and the Supporters (Ansār), and those who followed them in goodness, Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will live for ever. That is the supreme achievement."
O Servants of Allah: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), and became a kind companion and consoling friend to her. He would praise and applaud her saying: «إِنَّكِ عَلَى خَيْرٍ»
"You truly continue to be on good and righteousness".
Indeed, Umm Salamah combined between her duties as a wife to her husband and a mother caring for children. Thus, she was a mother who was generous and openhanded, committed to giving her children a good upbringing and caring about their affairs; she would prefer them over herself, and spend on them from her wealth. She said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah. Do I get rewarded for spending on Abu Salamah's children? They're also my children. He said:
«أَنْفِقِي عَلَيْهِمْ، فَلَكِ أَجْرُ مَا أَنْفَقْتِ عَلَيْهِمْ»
"Spend on them and you will get a reward for what you spend on them."
He also said to her: «إِنَّمَا عِيَالُكِ عِيَالِي» "Your family is my family"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was kind, affectionate and benevolent towards her children. Umm Salamah was keen on teaching her sons and daughters and raising their level of education, so much so that her daughter, Zaynab, became one of the most learned, wisest and cleverest of women of her time. This is how mothers are and should be when it comes to educating and teaching their children and giving them a good upbringing. This is the responsibility of mothers and fathers. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
«وَالمَرْأَةُ رَاعِيَةٌ عَلَى بَيْتِ زَوْجِهَا وَوَلَدِهِ، فَكُلُّكُمْ رَاعٍ، وَكُلُّكُمْ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ»
the woman is a guardian and is responsible for her husband's house and his offspring; All of you are guardians and all of you are responsible for your subjects.
O Muslims: Umm Salamah used to recite the Qur'an abundantly, reflecting on its meanings, and pondering over its verses, for she was the one who one day said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). O Messenger of Allah, why is that we (women) are not mentioned in the Qur'an the way men are mentioned? Her question was the cause for the revelation of the following Statement of Allah:
Surely, Muslim men and Muslim women, believing men and believing women, devout men and devout women, truthful men and truthful women, patient men and patient women, humble men and humble women, and men who give Sadaqah (charity) and women who give Sadaqah, and men who fast and women who fast, and men who guard their modesty and women who guard (their modesty), and men who remember Allah much and women who remember (Him much) for them, Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.
Umm Salamah was also eager in her quest for knowledge, always seeking to increase her knowledge and striving hard to obtain it, determined to realize the meaning of the hadith which she herself had narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to say after dawn:
«اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا»
(O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision and accepted deeds),
until she became a scholar and jurist who dedicated her life to the spread and dissemination of knowledge. She would explain to people the details and finer points of the Guidance and Directives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be him) in his household, as a way of putting into practice the Statement of Allah addressed the Wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
(وَاذْكُرْنَ مَا يُتْلَى فِي بُيُوتِكُنَّ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَالْحِكْمَةِ)
(And remember and be mindful of Allah's verses and the wisdom that is recited in your homes).
She narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) many traditions, in which she brought to light important aspects and dimensions of his blessed life. The Prophet's companions would come to her in droves, men and women, to ask her questions. They would ask her questions about their (worldly and religious) affairs, and she would teach them and respond to their questions. Allah almighty blessed Umm Salamah wise words, sound judgment and eloquent speech, until she became the wise and astute advisor and trustworthy and reliable counselor. Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took her advice in the Treaty of Hudaybiyah. She would spare no effort in giving advice and counsel to the senior companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), like 'Umar, 'Uthman, 'Ali, 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with them).
O Allah, be pleased with the Mothers of the Believers, the Wives of the Noble Prophet:
Make us of those who follow their example and put into practice the Guidance of Your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Guide us all to be obedient to You, to be obedient to Your Trustworthy Messenger, and to be obedient to those whom You have ordered us to be obedient to in Your Clear Book when You speak to us saying, and You are the Most Truthful of Speakers:
(يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ)
(O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you) .
I say this and I seek forgiveness for myself and for you, so seek his forgiveness, for He is the most-forgiving, the most-Merciful. I seek the redemptive forgiveness of Allah, I seek the redemptive forgiveness of Allah.
All Praise be to Allah Who made women complementary halves of men, and made them equal in the rewards they earn for their deeds.
I advise you, Servants of Allah, and myself to embody a reverential consciousness (taqwa) of Allah Almighty.
O Worshippers: Truly, Umm Salamah, What a virtuous wife she was! who worshipped her Lord and Cherisher, took care of her household, brought joy and happiness to her husband, and safeguarded her covenant such that in her the following Prophetic statement was realized:
«إِذَا صَلَّتِ الْمَرْأَةُ خَمْسَهَا، وَصَامَتْ شَهْرَهَا، وَحَفِظَتْ فَرْجَهَا، وَأَطَاعَتْ زَوْجَهَا قِيلَ لَهَا: ادْخُلِي الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أَيِّ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ شِئْتِ»
(When a woman prays her five (daily prayers), fasts her month (Ramadan), guards her chastity and obeys her husband, it will be said to her: 'Enter Paradise by whichever of the gates of Paradise you wish).
There is for women an excellent example (to follow) in Umm Salamah in sharing her views, benefitting her society, providing a good upbringing for her children and caring for her family and household.
And with this, let us send our peace and blessings upon the seal of the Prophets and Messengers, as we have been commanded to do, for Allah says in His glorious Book:
(إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا)
(Indeed, Allah and His angels [by asking Him to do so] confer blessing upon the Prophet, O you who believe: Ask for [Allah to confer] blessings upon him and ask for [ Allah to grant him] peace.)
O Allah: We ask you to bestow Your peace and blessings upon our Prophet, Sayyiduna Muhammad; and upon his family and all of his companions. O Allah: Be pleased with the Righteous Caliphs: Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali; and the noble companions, be pleased with all of them. O Allah: Grant success to the UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and guide him to all that is good. O Allah: We ask You to grant success to the Vice-President, the Crown Prince and his Brothers, their Highnesses, the Rulers of the Emirates. O Allah: Bestow your mercy on the late Sheikh Zayed, Sheikh Maktoum and the other late UAE Sheikhs who have passed on to Your mercy. O Allah: We ask you to admit them into Paradise by Your grace. O Allah: Forgive all of the Muslims, men and women, those living and those who have passed away. For indeed you are the All-Hearing, Ever-Near, the One who answers those who call upon You sincerely. O Allah: Continue blessing the UAE with stability, security, welfare, and an increase in its bounties, and increase it in advancement and honor, in tolerance and mutual love. And preserve its people upon true contentment. O Sustainer of all existence. O Allah: Have mercy on the honorable martyrs of our nation and coalition forces of the righteous, and enter them unto paradise with the elect. O Allah: Bestow upon their families the reward of those who are patient, through Your immense generosity. O Most Generous of the generous. O Allah: Give aid to the Arab Coalition Forces, and spread peace and security throughout the lands of the Muslims, and the entirety of the world. O Allah: Confer upon us Your blessings and do not make us from those who despair. O Allah: Bless us. Bless us with your blessings that are of gladness, comprehensive and encompassing. O Allah: Bless us with the blessings of the heavens, and cultivate and enable for us the blessings of the earth. O Allah: Give us in this life that which is beautiful; and in the next that which is beautiful, and save us from the fire. And enter us into paradise with the righteous. O most noble and most forgiving.
Servants of Allah: Remember Allah and He will remember you. Thank Him for His blessings, He will increase you therein. So stand up for prayer
