some people read (ثناء) in salat ul janaza instead of fatiha , is there any hadees or evidence in islam about (ثناء) in janaza?
Thank you for contacting us.This is an issue in which there is a disagreement between the scholars, the Maliki scholars said it is four takbeers, after which is supplication only, and not to recite Al-Fatihah in the funeral prayer, and their argument in that is the work of the people of Medina, and Imam Malik narrated in al-Muwatta that Abdullah Ibn Omar that he was not reciting in the funeral prayer. The Shafi'i and Hanbali scholars say it is obligatory to recite Al-Fatiha in the funeral prayer, and they have their evidence for this saying, and as the matter is differed upon by the Scholars of Islam, then the issue should be treated leniently.
