The General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and the Religious Administration for Muslims of the Russian Federation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in Islamic affairs. The MoU aims to foster the exchange of expertise and promote a contemporary religious discourse that aligns with present-day values of tolerance, co-existence and humanity.
The signing ceremony occurred on February 20th, 2023, at Awqaf’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The event was attended by top officials from both organisations, with Dr. Mohammed Matar Al Kaabi representing Awqaf, and Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin representing the Religious Administration for Muslims of the Russian Federation.
The MoU underlines the importance of achieving shared goals, including promoting religious awareness, consolidating moderate values and religious tolerance, countering extremists’ ideologies, improving imams' and Khateebs’ skills (speakers), and exchanging publications and researches.
Additionally, the MoU emphasises the participation of delegations from both countries in various forums, conferences, and events in accordance with the jurisdiction of each side, respectively.
